Job Description

Kibabii University is a public university in Kenya located in Bungoma County along Bungoma-Chwele highway.


Requirements for Appointment:

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: –

  1. Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines:– Information Science; Records Management and Information Technology; Archives and Records Management or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
  2. Good interpersonal and communication skills;
  3. Certificate in Computer Applications from a recognized institution; and
  4. Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Checking and taking appropriate action on pending correspondence and bring–ups;
  2. Preparing indexes, classified descriptive lists, location guides and inventory lists;
  3. Implementing policies and procedures on records management;
  4. Preserving and controlling records;
  5. Maintaining databases for control and retrieval of records;
  6. Coordinating receiving, sorting, opening and dispatching of mails and related registers are maintained;
  7. Coordinating proper storage, Custody and preservation of archives;
  8. Ensuring Security of information, documents, files and office equipment;
  9. Coordinating maintenance of files, records and registry;
  10. Initiating appraisal and disposal of files and document; and
  11. Weeding of ephemeral records.

Terms and Conditions

Successful candidates shall hold office on a contract period of Five (5) years renewable subject to satisfactory performance in accordance with the terms and conditions of service as approved by University Council from time to time. Tutorial Fellow position is on a One (1) year contract renewable subject to satisfactory performance.
